Aug 24, 1886 in !, a log cabin at Sylvan1a, Parke County, Ind1ana, which is Northwest of Rockville, Indiana. She was daughter of Edward Macy Harvy and Rachp-l $.llen Doan. Edward Macy Harvey was son of of Harlan Harvey and Ruth Chp-w and was bo~ Feb 10, 1840. He died Aug 18, 1890. Hp- was marr1p-d to Ruth Chew March 15, 1866. Ruth was a daughter of Washington DQan and Elizabeth Ra1rden. Edward Macy and his fathAr xx ran a tanning yard in the early days of Parke County, Indiana. They both ran blacksmith shops. Edward Macy shop wa~ at or near the erossroads at Sylvania. He died when .~ Moth~r wae only 4 yars old. He served in Company H 128th Regiment Indaiana Volunt~~rs in Civil War. H1s h~alth wis poor wh~n he returned from Civil War and ne never recov~red fully. H~ and Rachel and Harlan and Ruth are buri~d in Rueh Creek temetery near Sylvania, ~ark County, Indiana. The Harvey family were ~uakers and wer~ with the Quakere that were in North Carolina and w~re prosperous farmers. When the slavery question came up, they of cours~ were against the slaves and slavery, and ~hey all moved out.
