Notes for JOHN (NMN) FOSTER: This Second Generation of the Colonial Virginia Gloucester & EssexFoster Immigrant Family is who I now believe is my ancestor after much research !!!! Dr Billy G Foster speaks at lenght about the family in his Vol I Sec Edition "The Foster Family of Flanders, England, and America.
Robert And John Foster sons of Richard Foster moved to Essex Co Va. per Dr Foster's report.
John Foster son of Richard Married Ruth who I believe was of the Haskew Family.
Per Dr Foster John Patented 200 acres next to his Brother Robert . John Later Deeded 100 Acres to his son Robert who obvious was named for John's Brother. John and Ruth had 4 other sons also.
I have Found the Haskins Family lived near the Foster Family and a Grandson (John Jr) of Robert Foster and Elizabeth Garnett married a Haskins daughter of John Haskins.
Name: John Haskew a.. Sex: M a.. Death: 1798 in Orange Co., VA a.. Note: VA Land Patents No. 15, Page 21, Jun 20, 1733 John Haskew received a land patent for 400 acres in the great fork of Rappahannock River beginning and extending by Blew Cowslip Run in Spotsylvania County.
Although we know from research the Hoskins / Fosters family link with the marriage of John's Grandmother and Bartholomew Hoskins . Could Ruth's last name have been Hoskins?
Per the 1973 Book"The Foster Family" The American Genealogical Research Institute of Arlington, Va There were already several John Fosters who had immigrated to Colonial, Va. (two John Fosters in 1623 ; 1 John Foster in 1641 ; one John Foster in 1654 and one as an endentured servant in 1698. I have at this time ruled out these John Fosters as my ancestor since I can only link to John Foster of Essex Co Va and son of Richard Foster who is the 1635 Richard Foster The Immigrant .
