James Bossidy was the eldest of four brothers and one sister who came over and settled in Lee, Mass. He Married Johanna Mackey (1822-1892), and they had three sons and three daughters.

4. PATRICK² BOSSIDY (BARTHOLOMEW¹) was born April 14, 1827, and died May 09, 1912. He married (1) CATHERINE O'KEEFE. He married (2) JOHANNA COLLINS April 05, 1856.

Married 0n 4/5/1856 to Johanna Collins (B: 1824; Died ?) They had three sons and two daughters. Patrick Bossidy also married a second time, to Catherine O'Keefe (9/2/1832-8/??/1912 and had an infat son, David, who died in Oct. 1867.

5. MAURICE² BOSSIDY (BARTHOLOMEW¹) was born August 1829, and died May 03, 1901. He married MARY MCDONNELL.

Notes for MAURICE BOSSIDY:
1. Maurice Bossidy was the fourth oldest of the first five siblings who came over. He was married to Mary McDonnell (1833-1901), who was the sister of Patrick McDonnell (1823-1878), the husband of Mary Bossidy. Maurice and Mary Bossidy had four sons and four daughters. (See following note).

2. N.B.: In 1981, John Bossidy made inquiries to the Town Clerk of West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, about the Bossidy Family. During the research by Ms. Elizabeth Lavalette, Town Clerk, she turned up information which cannot be corrobated by any existing family history.

The Town records show that in 1861, two female daughters of a "Morris" Bossidy and Mary Bossidy died of unknown causes. This name of "Morris" is the common pronunciation of Maurice, and the wife of Maurice Bossidy was indeed, Mary McDonnell. The two deceased girls were:

Barthatima Bossidy, age 8 years, died March 28, 1861; and,
Johanna Bossidy, age 1 year, died December 20, 1861.

This means that Barthatima Bossidy would have been born in 1853, which is a distinct possibility. Prior to receiving this information, it was thought that Bridget Agnes Bossidy, born in 1855, daughter of James and Johanna Mackey Bossidy was the first child born in this country to the family. The two deceased daughters as recorded in West Stockbridge are not listed under this family listing of Maurice Bossidy.
