The following concerns the ancestors of my parents: James B. Fowler and Jean (Betz) Fowler. The first Fowler, Adam, came to this country in the mid-eighteenth century, settled in Gloucester County, New Jersey, married Elizabeth Haines (descendant of Richard Haines) and had thirteen children.
My mother's side, Betz, has been traced back to Isaac Betz (Betts) (b. 1807) and his wife Margaret Rebecca Hauck (b. 1819) who lived in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties in eastern Pennsylvania. We have been unable to determine the ancestors of Isaac and Margaret.
Of particular interest is my grandmother, Eugenia Wilcox. Eugenia (b. 1893) and her sister Ella (b.1891) were orphaned in "Willards Home for Destitute Children" in the 1890s in Neptune, Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is known only that their parents names were Thomas Wilcox and Emma Alford.
