 Includes NotesNotes for David Liles:
I found noteworthy information about David (b. August 13, 1755), brother to our ancestor, Thomas (b. 1760/70) (our GGGGGrandfather):

David Liles was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia. He married Eunice Bedford (b. 1755/60), daughter of Jonas Bedford and Mercy Travis Raymond. David died after 1834, probably Carroll County, Tennessee. He fought in the Revolutionary War. His record follows, as found in pension claim, S. 4544, based upon his service in the Revolutionary War:

"David Liles was born August 13, 1755, on the Meherrin River, county and state not shown, and when very young moved with his father to Pittsylvania County (the part which was later Henry County), Virginia, and lived there for ten years; his father moved then to Craven County, South Carolina, David accompanied him and after residing there for five years, moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina. The names of David's parents are not shown. While a resident of said Rutherford County, David volunteered in 1776, served in Captain John McKinney's North Carolina Company of Rangers and made many trips through the surrounding country at the head of a party of men in search of Indians; length of this service, one year.

He volunteered again, the next year, exact date not given and served one year as a Ranger in Captain Thomas Mills' North Carolina Company, was stationed at Mills Fort and was engaged in protecting the inhabitants from the Indians. After the war, the soldier continued to reside in Rutherford County, North Carolina, for about ten years, then moved to Jackson County, Tennessee, on the Cumberland River where he lived for three years, then moved to Maury County, Tennessee, and lived for three years, after which he moved to Carroll County, Tennessee.

David Liles was allowed pension on his application executed October 15, 1832, at which time he resided in Carroll County, Tennessee. There are no data in regard to the family of this pensioner, other than the residences of his father, David.

David Liles Certificate #25414, issued January 7, 1832, Rate $50 per annum commenced March 4, 1832, Act of June 7, 1832 West Tennessee Agency.
