Goose Creek - James M. Chambers, 81, a retired electrician with Polaris Missile Base, died Saturday in a Charleston hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church in North Charleston. Burial, directed by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home of North Charleston, will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston.

Mr. Chambers was born in Hopkins, Ga., a son of William F. Chambers and Margaret Adams Chambers. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline G. Chambers; four sons, Robert W. Chambers of New Port, N.C., Charles M. Chambers of Charleston, George S. Chambers of Aster, Fla., and James M. Chambers Jr., of Beaufort; three brothers, Aubrey Chambers of Birmingham, Ala., and Billy Chambers and Henry Chambers, both of Canadys; six sisters, Ulma C. Hillman of Birmingham, Mary C. Strobel of Summerville, Etta C. McQuaig of Brunswick, Ga., Rena C. Sowell of Rocky Ford, Ga., Vera C. McTeer of Beaufort and Cleo C. Fox of Simpsonville; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Marvin Craig McTeer, 73, of Beaufort, husband of Vera Chambers McTeer, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Anderson Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Port Royal Baptist Church with burial in Beaufort National Cemetery.

Mr. McTeer was born June 1, 1926, in Walterboro, a son of Samuel McTeer and Edith Sanders McTeer. He was retired from Civil Service as commissary manager. He was a member and deacon of Port Royal Baptist Church. He was a disabled veteran.

Surviving are his wife of Beaufort; two sons, M. Craig McTeer and Wayne McTeer of Beaufort; two sisters, Alice Drew of Walterboro and Maude Burroughs of Atlanta, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
