Notes for Caroline Lena Fasse:
Family tradition says that Caroline Lena Fasse immigrated to the United States from Germany as a young girl with several brothers and sisters; their parents remaining in Germany. One sister was named Emma, and a brother was named Gustav. Oral history does not name the other siblings.

Manifest ID Number 37955 of the ship Fulda, arriving in the US from Germany on November 1, 1884, lists a Gustav Fasse (age 14) and a Wilhelm Fasse (age 19).

The 1920 Tazwell County, IL census lists Gustav and Lena Fasse living next door to Fred and Elizabeth Fasse. Gustav Fasse is shown as 50 years old, corresponding to the same birth year as the 14 year old Gustav of 1884. Fred is listed as 58 years old. Both are shown as being born in Germany.

From the Naturalization Abstracts of McLean County, IL (ID I64354896), dated October 2, 1888, Fred Fasse is shown as being a US resident for the past five years. This date is in the range for the 1884 immigration of Gustav and Wilhelm.

Finally, the August 28, 1942 obituary of Fred Fasse lists two brothers, Gustav and William, and shows his parents as Fred and Wilhelmina Freitag Fasse.

Based on the above information, it is thought that Caroline is the sister of Gustav, William, and Fred Fasse.
