      25. Sarah Fouch, born Abt. 1831 in PA; died Aft. 1880. She was the daughter of 50. John Fouch and 51. Experience Freeman.

Notes for Jeremiah Chaplin:
1850 Highland County, OH census, page 303, household #151

So far, no actual proof that Jeremiah Chaplin was the son of William and Hannah Chaplin has been found, but based on these findings there is reasonable belief of a connection.

The 1850 Highland County, OH census records that Jeremiah and Sarah Chaplin live next door to William and Hannah Chaplin. William and Hannah's daughter, Malinda, is the only child still living in the home at that time. On the other side of William and Hannah Chaplin live Reuben and Mary M. Barr Chaplin. Two doors down from Reuben Chaplin is William and Elizabeth Chaplin. The ages of Jeremiah, Reuben, and William Chaplin are in line with what could be children of William and Hannah. Both Williams and Reuben are listed as being born in PA, but Jeremiah is listed with an OH birth. This fits with a Highland County deed dated 3/23/1819 relaying a transaction of 150 acres from Zadock Walker of Uniontown, Fayette County, PA to Wm. Chaplin "of said county" [Highland]. According to the ages listed on the 1850 census, the younger William and Reuben were born about 1818, (prior to the move from PA to OH) and Jeremiah was born about 1827 (after the move from PA to OH).

It is known that William Chaplin (husband of Hannah) was the son of William and Sarah Woods Chaplin, and that he had a brother named Reuben. This fits with William and Hannah naming one of their sons Reuben, after William's brother. Also, William and Sarah Chaplin are buried in Barr Cemetery in Highland County, OH, suggesting some type of connection between those two families.

The lineage of Jeremiah Chaplin through William and Hannah is based on the above information.

The 1860 Schuyler County, IL census, page 307, dwelling #119, the household of Jeremiah Chaplin is recorded as:
Jeremiah, age 34 born OH, wagonmaker
Sarah, age 30 born PA
Rolen, age 12 born OH
John F, age 9 born IL
Aaron R., age 3 born IL
