Name of Colliery---Colorado Location---Colorado Name of Owner or Agent---Philadelphia Coal Company Person Killed---John Carr Cause of Accident---Fall of Coal
A more detailed report reads: Second Schuylkill District, Shenandoah Area, owned by Philadelphia Coal Company, located on Girard Estate, operated by Colorado Coal Company. Occupation, Miner. 28 April 1877 "John Carr, killed by a fall of coal in an old chute, which was temporarily abandoned. The deceased had been forbidden by the inside foreman to take coal out of this place."
My Note-In the hundreds upon hundreds of mine deaths recorded, not one has been determined to be the fault of the Company. Strange, isn't it?
