Frozen Limbs Fatal to Lad Dies before emergency amputation was attempted.Raymond, Jan 6. - Badily frozen as he lay helpless in bed in his unheated home after his mother died while lighting the fire; Alvin Court, 13, an invalid, died in a Lethbridge hospital Monday night. His mother, Mrs. George Court, was found frozen on the floor of the house at noon Monday by her other son, Wallace. She was believed to have suffered a heart attack while lighting the fire. Both the boys legs were frozen from the knees down and he was rushed to hospital in Lethbridge where an emergency operation to amputate the lower part of the limbs was planned in an effort to save his life. The shock of the extensive freezing was too great for his system, however, and he died six hours after being admitted to hospital and before the operation could be preformed. How long the pair had been in the unheated house was not known. They were last seen at noon Friday by Wallace Court when he delivered a load of coal to the house.Mrs. Court and Alvin lived alone in the house, a short distance out of the town, and Wallace, who lives in town, was in the habit of visiting them frequently to see they were "all right."He said his mother told him everything was "fine" when he left on Friday.
