Note: Colonists Richard and wife Mary (Wood) Bonsall, five daughters and Mrs Joseph Bonsall Jr. (Elizabeth Wood), her son Obadiah Bonsall, all immigrated to Darby Pennsylvania, America, from Moulderidge and Bonsall, Derbyshire England, 1682 with Wm. Penn in order to escape religious persecution and held a certificate from Monthly Meeting at Ashford 23 day of ye month 1682 Derbyshire England. He is believed to have had the following children: Mary, born 5 mo., 22, 1698, married John David, of Radnor, 1718; Aaron, born 2 mo., 1, 1700, married Elizabeth ___; Moses, born 2 mo., 14, 1702, married Sarah Bradshaw, 1732, and died 1762; Phebe, born 12 mo., 28, 1703; Hannah, married in 1729 to Thomas Hall of Philadelphia; Martha, married (by license dated March 19, 1730) to Joseph Lees, of Darby; Rachel, married (by license dated July 30, 1735) to John Pearson, of Darby. They had not been very long married at the time of their arrival here, as a number of their children were born in this county. Richard died in 1699, and his wife one year earlier. Their son Obadiah, born in England, was married to Sarah Bethell; their daughter Rebecca to Daniel Hibberd, and their daughter Ann to Josiah Hibberd. Mary died 6 mo. 24, 1698, and Richard, 7 mo. 13, 1699. As the latter died intestate it is difficult to determine the names of all his children, but an Obadiah Bonsall, who was formerly believed to have been a son, is now believed to have been a nephew and the son of Elizabeth Bonsall, widow, who was married in 1686 to James Hunt. Obadiah Bonsall married Sarah Bethell, in 1701. The wife of Richard Bonsall is said to have been the daughter of George Wood and their children were these, if not more: Rachel, m. in 1697 to Daniel Hibberd. Ann, m. 9 mo. "Georg Wood sonne of Georg Wood and Anne his wife deceased ye 7th day of 10 mo., 1682, and was buried in ye burying place in Darby." John, born in England; died, in Darby, Pennsylvania, 1728; married twice. First, on 10th month 1st, 1687, at the house of William Howell, Haverford, Jane daughter of John and Barbara Bevan. She died 10th month 12th, 1703. Secondly, 12th month 5th, 1707, to Rebecca Fearne, widow of Walter Faucet of Ridley, whose first wife was named Grace; she died in1686, he married Rebecca Fearne in 1694, and he died in 1704. Elinor, born in England, circa 1670; died in Merion, Pennsylvania 11th month 28th, 1744; married, 11th month 9th, 1693, at Darby, Evan Bevan, brother to Jane Bevan; he died circa 1720. Letters of Administration were granted on his estate, 13th of August, 1720, as of Merion.
