Notes for Nina Ann Nelson: Canon City Daily Record December 9, 1957
Mrs. Nina A. Biddix, 79 of 625 Woodlawn Ave. died At her home early Monday morning. She had been ill for several months and serious most of the time.
A former school teacher, Mrs. Biddix was born in Leadville on Feb. 14, 1878. She was the first white child born in that community and a copy of her birth certificate was found in the cornerstone of the old Lake County court house when it was razed recently.
Mrs. Biddix, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson, moved with her parents to Ilse when a young girl and was educated in the Canon City Schools. She taught school at Texas Creek and Cottonwood prior to her marriage to F. Willard Biddix on June 12, 1899. The were married at the Nelson home in Garden Park, where the family moved from Ilse route.
Mr. and Mrs Biddix resided at Cripple Creek where he mined, for six of seven years after their marriage, then returned to Canon City, their home since. They ranched in garden Park until 1937 when they moved to East Canon.
