Samuel Frazier, a native of Scotland, who on coming to America in 1748 settled in the colony of North Carolina, where on the 17th of March, 1749, he wedded Miss Rebecca Julian, a French Huguenot lady of liberal culture and notable beauty. Later they removed to that part of western North Carolina, which became Greene county and was afterward embraced in Tennessee. Samuel Frazier espoused the cause of the colonists when they attempted to throw off the yoke of British oppression and aided in winning American independence. He participated in the battle of King's Mountain and other engagements. Thereafter he took active part in shaping the history of the new republic. In 1796 he was delegate to the convention at Knoxville, which ordained and established the first constitution of Tennessee and he served on the subcommittee which drafted that important document. Following the admission of the state in the Union he became the first state senator from Greene county and occupied this position for two terms.

Notes for Samuel Frazier:
Samuel Frazier , A Whig of 1776
One of the Framers of Tennessee's Constitution, 1776
First State Senator from Greene County, Tennessee, 1796-1801
His Wife Rebecca Julian and Their Descendants Compiled by, Virginia Knight Nelson 1978 (203 pages)

Samuel Frazier, the progenitor of this family, was a Whig during the time of the American Revolution and later was prominent in the formation of the State of Tennessee.
In the Revolution, Samuel Frazier espoused the cause of the colonists in their struggle for the right to govern themselves. Abt. 1789, seven years before the frontier area west of the Appalachians attained statehood, Samuel Frazier and his family moved from Guilford County, North Carolina, to Greene County (now Tennessee).
He soon became a leader in Greene County and in 1795 was elected a delegate to Tennessee's first constitutional convention. He was chosen to be a member of the committee, which drafted the important document, and his signature is affixed to the original constitution, which is now in the state archives in Nashville. Serving as the first state senator from Greene County, he helped to organize the state government under the new constitution prior to the admittance of Tennessee into the Union on June 1, 1776.
Soon after 1800, Samuel and his wife Rebecca moved to Knox County, TN where they resided for the remainder of their lives. Both of them lived to be ninety years of age. They were the parents of seven children whose living descendants can be found throughout the United States. Those who have gone before include some who lie in almost forgotten family cemeteries in Tennessee and North AL and at least one who is buried in widely known Arlington National Cemetery.
Descendants of Samuel and Rebecca have served in all of the wars in which our nation has been involved since the American Revolution, and two attained the rank of General. They were in the War of 1812, the Mexican War, on both sides in the Civil War, in World Wars 1 and 2, and in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. A number of them gave their "last full measure of devotion." (See Roll of Honor, p.189.)

I am posting this research, with the hope that someone may benefit from the hard work of the writer, Virginia Knight Nelson, whom I do not know. It is a reference book in my library. I took many notes, and may contain errors.
