He married (1) MARGARET "PEGGY" CARTER February 05, 1821 in Greene Co; Tennessee, daughter of CALEB CARTER and PHEBE WILLIAMS. She was born Abt. 1803 in Tennessee, and died Abt. 1830 in Greene Co; Tennessee. He married (2) ELIZABETH HIBBS March 28, 1831 in Putnam Co; Indiana. She was born February 08, 1811 in Kentucky, and died September 12, 1867.

JOHN C. FRAZIER

John C. Frazier was born 15 Jan. 1803 in Greene County, TN. His first wife's name and marriage date, and the names of his parents are educated guesses from birth and marriage records of Greene County. I believe he was the son of David and Elizabeth (Parker) Frazier, and the grandson of Thomas and Sarah Frazier, making him a cousin to the other two John Fraziers who also lived in Greene County. If his parentage is correct, he had at least 9 brothers and sisters, whose names I don't know. The Fraziers came from Scotland to Guilford and Randolph Counties, NC before settling in Greene County before 1800.
Apparently John married Margaret "Peggy" Carter, probably the daughter of Caleb and Phebe (Williams) Carter, 5 Feb. 1821 in Greene County. They had four sons: William Dow (or David), was born 31 Oct. 1821. He married Sarah Ann Evans 18 April 1850 and died 29 Oct. 1902. James Nathan Frazier was born 4 Sept. 1823. He married Cornelia Simpson 24 Aug. 1848 and died 19 May 1896. Samuel D. Frazier was born 31 Dec. 1825, and Thomas W. Frazier 26 July 1828, all in Greene County. Of the two younger sons, nothing is known for sure. There was a Samuel Frazier of the right age who lived in Jefferson and Oregon Counties, MO, and in Fulton County, AR, who could have been John C. Frazier's son. He had two wives, Eliza and Polly, and about 12 children. Thomas W. Frazier still lived with his father in 1850, but there is no further record of him.
John's first wife apparently died between 1828 and 1830, Probably in Greene County. John married Elizabeth Hibbs 28 March 1831 in Putnam County, Indiana. He migrated there with many other Frazier families about 1829, settling near Reelsville. While there, John and Elizabeth had 7 daughters and 3 sons. They are as follows:
Sarah Elizabeth born 8 Jan. 1832; married Jonathon L. Jones 21 June 1846; died 7 Aug. 1922. Mary L. born 16 Oct. 1833. She was the only one of John's children to die in infancy. Barbara Jane "Jennie" 9 March 1835; married George Ratleff McIntosh 27 March 1853; died 14 Oct. 1906. Mary Candace 9 Dec. 1836; married George W. Moore 8 Jan. 1854. Hannah I. born 28 Aug. 1838; married Jacob Cox 28 Nov. 1855; died 28 Nov. 1932. Nancy A. born 7 March 1840; married Thomas H. Faith 11 Oct. 1858; died 9 July 1903. Emily Malinda born 27 April 1842; married her second cousin Thomas John Frazier 22 Jan. 1860; 25 July 1936. John R. Lennox Frazier born 12 Feb. 1844 and died 17 June 1866. George McMahan Frazier born 21 Jan. 1849; married Rebecca Faith, sister of Thomas H. Faith above, children of Thomas B. and Evaline Faith. Joseph Henry Byron Frazier born 12 April 1852; married Nancy Ann Lucky 17 Oct. 1877; died 4 May 1936.
In addition, John C. Frazier raised his second wife's daughter Minerva Catherine Hibbs, who was born in KY 4 Feb. 1827; and married her stepfather's cousin, also named John Frazier.
John died 21 May 1868 in Harrison County, Iowa, and is buried in the Frazier Cemetery near Missouri Valley. He and his first wife were my 3rd great grandparents.
