1. Benona¹ Sweet was born 1811 in Vermont, US, and died 15 April 1876 in Madoc, Ontario, Canada. He married Florrie Embury, daughter of Dr. Embury and Martha VanTassel. She was born 1817 in Madoc, Ontario.

Notes for Benona Sweet:
Benomic Sweet deserted the American Army and fled to Ormsby from Pennsylvania. He located on lots 36, 37 and 38 in Limerick Township in 1856. Family lore says he was Dutch, but on all Census records he says he is English. His two sons, Benoni and William state they are Dutch origin on these same Census records.

Cause of Death: Dispepsia, was ill for 10 months
Occupation: 1871, Census states he is a Mail Contractor. His death certificate stated he was a Bailiff/Constable.
