She was born 1778 in Randolph County, North Carolina, and died Bet. 1811 - 1819 in Overton Co, Tennessee. He married (2) POLLY MARYANN VAN HOOSER Aft. 1819, daughter of ISAAC VAN HOOSER and POLLY POORE. She was born Bet. 1802 - 1804 in Tennessee, and died Bet. 1870 - 1880 in Overton Co, Tennessee.

Richard Winningham II and family are listed on the 1820 Overton Co., TN. Census, 1 male under 10, 1 male between 10-16 years of age, 1 male between 26-45, 3 females under 10, 1 female between 10-16 years of age.

The 1830 Overton Co., TN. census lists Richard Winningham with 2 males under age 5, 2 males between 5-10 years, 1 male between 15-20 years, 1 male between 20-30, 1 male between 50-60 years, 2 females under 5, 2 females between 10-15 years, 1 female between 15-20 years, 1 female between 20-30 years, 1 female between 30-40 years.

The 1840 Fentress Co., TN. Census lists Richard Winnigham with 2 males under 5, 2 males between 10-15 years, 2 males between 15-20 years, 1 male between 60-70 years, 1 female under 5, 2 females between 10-15 years, 1 female between 30-40 years.

The 1850 Fentress Co., TN. Census lists Richard Winningham age 72, Mary age 48, Henry 18, Rachel 22, Sarah 20, Rebecca 15, Anderson 14, Seth 12, Jacob 10, Tennessee 7.

Richard and Mary are listed on the 1860 Overton Co., TN. Census, District 9, he is age 81, Mary is age 54, Jacob age 19, Tennessee age 16.

He is listed on the 1870 Overton Co., TN. Census, he is age 90, his wife is Mary Ann age 67.

Richard Winningham and his brother Adam were the first Winningham's to settle in Tennessee, Richard settled on the East Fork near the mouth of Crickett Creek around 1818. Richard's first wife's name is unknown to me at this time, his second wife Maryann, called "Polly" was much younger than him by about twenty-five years. On June 1, 1808 Richard has 100 acres of land surveyed by Josiah Patty on the Obed River.

Richard Winningham received at least three Tennessee Land Grants in the Mountain District of the Cumberland Plateau: On Aug. 14, 1837 Richard Winningham and Jesse Ashburn received Grant No. 5473 for 500 acres in Fentress Co., TN., on Aug. 24, 1837 Richard Winningham and Abraham McClellan received Grant No. 5501 for 300 acres in Fentress Co., TN., on Sept. 10, 1858 Richard Winningham and E. Franklin received Grant No. 12118 for 2000 acres in Fentress Co., TN.

  Notes for JOHN JAHUE WINNINGHAM:
1850 Fentress Co., TN. Census: John Wineham 35, Farmer. In his household are Isaac and Eliza Winningham, his half brother and family.

John "Jahue" as he was sometimes called enlisted in the Union Army Second Regiment of Company B Tennessee Volunteers on Aug. 20, 1861 in Montgomery, Tennessee. He was captured at Rogersville, Tennessee and sent to Andersonville Prison in Georgia. He died in Andersonville Prison, cause of death was diarrhea, he was buried at Andersonville his grave number is 2764.
