Baldwin Sells left Ohio with most of his eleven children and moved to Iowa, several of his children married, settled and remained in Iowa for the remainder of their lives. Baldwin and two or three of his sons heard the call of gold discoveries in the West and took to the Oregon Trail. (Celle Newsletter, Oct. 2003, Number 129)

Notes for JOSEPH HENRY SELLS:
He bought land in Overton Co., Tennessee from Thomas Eldridge on Jan. 24, 1845, witnesses to this land sale were Andrew Godsey and Jonathan Richardson. The land was adjoining land owned by David Richardson, Nicholas Mullins and others. Deed Book A, page 15.

They are listed on the 1850 Overton Co., Tennessee Census as living in District 7. He is age 90, his wife Margaret is age 55. They are living next door to his son David Leander Sells. Henry owns land valued at 400.00.

John was a member of the Washington County Virginia Militia, 2nd Batt., 70th Reg. in 1798, 2nd Batt., 105th Reg. in 1799, he was in Capt. Goodson's Company in 1808.
