Margaret devoted her life to becoming a Presbyterian Missionary, after receiving her education in the schools of Johnson City, Tennessee she received training for her work at Salem College, The University of Tennessee, The University of South Carolina at Columbus, South Carolina, Columbus Bible College. She went to China in 1926 and worked there until the Communist invasion forced her to leave in 1949. She then went to Japan and helped establish the first Chinese Church in Kobe. In Formosa she began teaching at the National University of Taiwan and had charge of the Presbyterian Student Center. She has also attended the College of Chinese Studies, in Peiping, China. She has done graduate work in Chinese at the University of California.
