Linda Kieth Francis (daughter of Paul Clifford Francis and Mary Louise Deck) was born December 26, 1947 in Johnson City, Tn.. She married James E. Barrett on September 07, 1969.

Linda Francis was a "day late" Christmas gift to Mary Deck and Paul Francis on Dec. 26, 1947, and there began her storytelling career as to why Santa delivered her late. Linda is a writer, artist, lecturer, and professional storyteller. She worked for the Bristol Tn. School System for 27 years. She has degrees in art education, library science, professional storytelling and educational psychology and she attend the Governors Academy for writing. She combines use of all of these degrees in her storytelling telling some stories for healing, and personal growth and other stories to preserve family oral tradition. She descends from many families that were the first settlers in the Appalachian area. Among her grandparents and relatives are:
1. Stephen Holston whom much of this ares is named in honor of - the Dam, the mountain, the river, churches, streets, post office, schools and the Methodist District Conference
2. Adams family help build the first Methodist Chruch in this area (Which still stands to this day - Acuff Chapel). They also build Adams Chapel;
3. Barnes help to host the first Methodist camp grounds.;
4. Decks help to build the first Lutheran Chruch in this area, Zion Lutheran Chruch.
5. Barkers founded Milligan College and became the first President of the college.
6. The Francis family cleared the East Tennessee area moving trees, houses, graveyards etc. for the TVA Dam.
7. The Looney's build one of the first forts for early hunters to board at while traveling in this area.

Others early settlers and relatives that intermarried with these were the Gieslers, Shipleys, Goodmans, Sanders, Cunninghams, Dyers, Gammons, Galloways, Streets, Milhorns, Moffits and the Cross family.
