Oct 2, 1956 family letter: "All I know about her is that she was a 'Gage' and died at the Paper Mills Crossing of a cancer in the stomach. She was not very old. Burial at Sauquoit Cemetery on the Gage lot"
There is a Paper Mills Corners in Herkimer County.

Kirkland Gage, 31M Farmer, NY Mary 28F, Canada Mary 8F, NY, in school Catherine 7F, NY, in school William, 4M, NY Hannah, 3F, NY John, 25M, Mason, NY There is little reason to doubt that this is the right family. Exact name, same age, her mother is from Canada, father NY, and they are in Paris, where she will live 30 years later when married. This corroborates what the family letter says.
