"James F. HOOD, blacksmith and farmer at Hood Post-office, was born in Greene
County, TN, 11 July 1833, and is the son of Benjamin and Mary (DRAINE) HOOD,
both natives of Greene County, TN. They were married in that county, and in
1834 they moved to Alabama, where they remained until their son, James F., was
ten years old (1843-44). They then moved to Dade County, MO. After remaining
here a few years, they moved to Madison County, AR and located on Loller's
Creek, where they lived five years, then returned to Cedar County, MO. They
then moved on White River, AR., and afterward made several trips to Missouri.
He was a great rambler, and died at Washburn, Barry Co., MO in 1875, at the age
of sixty-five. He was an industrious man, an excellent farmer, but was not
satisfied to remain long in one place. His father's name was John HOOD."

The biography goes on to tell about James F. 's life. I have dates on Sarah
Anne "Sadie" (MORRISON) HOOD, but they are not with me at the moment. I'll
forward that information to you along with the names of her brothers later this
week. In obituaries of Benton Co., AR, I found the article where she and her
mother had gone to Sweet Springs MO, in 1930 to have the body of her father,
James Allison MORRISON disinterred and moved to the National Cemetery in
Fayetteville AR. He died in 1921 in Missouri. It was in that article that I
learned of her brothers, so I do not have any dates on them. James A. and Mary
Anne (JONES) MORRISON are listed on the Vermilion Co., IL 1870 census with one
son, Edwin, 2 years of age.

My history has Mary (DRAINE) HOOD's parents as James DRAINE b.1780 in Maryland,
d. 1829, and (get ready to add another variation) Rouanna (SHERREL) DRAINE b.
1782, d. 1861 - no location given.

The information on Sarah Ann "Sadie" (MORRISON) HOOD is:
b. 18 November 1873
w. Rankin, Vermillion Co., Illinois
m. Thomas Clark HOOD
29 December 1895
d. 2 February 1947
w. Fayetteville, Washington Co., Arkansas

Her parents were James Allison and Mary Ann (JONES) MORRISON.
James Allison Mary Ann
b. 20 October 1845 b. 24 November 1847
possibly in Illinois in England
d. 25 October 1921
w. Sweet Springs, Saline Co., Missouri
Buried: Fayetteville National Cemetery
Plot 11 0 1368, bur. 7/17/1930

I have yet to find when and where they married. How in the world did he meet
and marry a girl from England??? Nor do I have when and where she died - had to
be sometime between 1930 and 1945, when Sarah died, and probably in Rogers, AR.
Still searching for that. And both sets of parents are unknown.

Following is the obituary found in the book entitled "Benton County AR
Obituaries":

1930

MORRISON, James A. - The body of James A. MORRISON, who served in Company
E, 5th Regiment Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War, was disinterred from the
Fairview cemetery in Sweet Springs, Mo. on July 16 and transferred to the
national cemetery at Fayetteville. Mr. MORRISON died nine years ago at Sweet
Springs and is survived by his widow who makes her home with her daughter, Mrs.
T.C. HOOD, in Rogers, AR. Besides the daughter, four sons survive: John J.
MORRISON of Fayetteville; Edwin K. MORRISON, Emporia, KS; Frank MORRISON, Great
Falls, MT; and James MORRISON, Buhl, ID. Mr. Morrison and his family resided at
Sulphur City in Washington County for several years, later moving to Sweet
Springs. The family came to Arkansas in March 1887 from Kansas. [Roger Democrat
