Married Roxanna Sherrel in Dec 1800 or 1802. Soldier died 5 Aug 1829 in Obin Co. TN.Mrs Roxanna Drane, (name also spelled Ruanna Drain) applied for VBounty land on 13 Apr 1853, her age 70, and she was a resident of Washington Co AR, (P.O. Maguire's store) She stated that her husband had volunteered into service in Montgomery CO. KY. She stated that she had left Montgomery CO some 25 years ago.

Know all men by those presents that I James Drain of the County of Merion and State of Tennessee, in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear to my beloved sons, James, Drain Junior, David Drain and Robert Drain of the County and State aforesaid I have given and confirmed and by those presents do give, grant and confirm unto the said James, David and Robert all my goods and chattel _________ leases and personal estate whatever,, in whose hands custody, or possession so ever therebe within the State of Tennessee. To have and to hold and enjoy all and singular the Chattels goods and personal estate aforesaid, with all my rights in to preferred right allowed to me of one hundred and sixty acres of land by the act of assembly unto the said James Drain, David Drain and Robert Drain, their executors, administrators and assigns forever, and I the said James Drain senior all and singular the said goods, chattels and personal estate and ether the premises to the said James, David and Robert Drain their executors administrators and assigns against the said James Drain Sen.'s and my executor and administrators and all every other person or persons whichever will and shall _______ and ever defend by these presents of all and singular which said goods, chattels and personal estate and other the premises. I the said James Drain have put the said James, David and Robert Drain in full possession by delivering to them one bay mare and colt one _____horse, one gray horse, nine head of hogs, nine head of cattle three feather beads with my preference right at the time of the sealing and delivery of those presents in the name of the whole promises hereby granted-
