Andreas was born in Petzerell, Gaden, Germany in 1826, and lived in Pennsylvania and Indiana before settling on Cottonwood Creek, just southeast of Seguin, Guadalupe, Texas. He married three times, and first wife Mary Flegin was the mother of Elias 'Eli' Mayer.
