John Wiley Dailey (son of Peter Dailey II and Mary Ann Wiley) was born 3 Aug 1787 in Merricks Mill, Greene Co., PA, and died 1874 in West Liberty, Muscatine Co., IA. He married Mary DeWees on 17 Oct 1815 in Grandview, OH, daughter of Abraham DeWees and Jane McCollum.

John and his father Peter and some other men went out on patrol, got captured by Indians, tortured, and Peter got burned at the stake. John Wiley Dailey got away and lived to have his grandson pass on the story.
