Notes for Mary Weld: Mary Weld was the daughter of Joseph and Ame (Brewster) Weld, the Roxbury, Massachusetts immigrants. She was christened on July 1, 1629 at All Saints' Church in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. With her parents and many siblings, Mary emigrated from England in 1633, settling in Roxbury.
Mary wed Daniel Harris - see The Harris Family - of Rowley, Massachusetts, on October 26, 1648. In about 1652 and soon after the birth of their first child, Mary, Daniel and baby elected to migrate from the increasingly heavily populated Boston area to the wilderness of the Connecticut River Valley.
The couple settled in Wangunk and Mattabesset Indian territory in what would eventually become Middletown, Connecticut. They were among the first members of the First Church of Christ, established on November 4, 1668, according to the Connecticut Nutmegger. In the gentle hills along the Connecticut River in Middletown, Mary reared their ten children: Mary (who would later marry Isaac Johnson), Daniel, Joseph, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sarah (who died as an infant), Sarah, William, John, and Hannah.
Mary died on September 5, 1711 in Middletown.
