Information about John Ross is from THE BOOK OF ROSS by Ernest E. Fewkes. It is an unpublished, typewritten manuscript in 7 volumes. It is located in the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston, Massachusetts. The history of John Ross of Malden starts on page 3100. The connection with other Ross's is not known. The difficulty is caused by the fact that there were 3 persons named 'John Ross' in that same load of prisoners.

John was a Scottish soldier captured in the final battle of the British War. He was brought over to the colonies and sold as an indentured worker to a Thomas Kemble of Charlestown in the spring of 1652.
