Its been over 100yrs since Nathan and Leah Friedman came to America from Russia. They had six children Louis, Jean, Rachael, Samuel, Ida, and Charlie. I am a descendent of Samuel Friedman. According to the 1900 Census they were living in Babylon, L.I. New York and the only people in the house at the time were Nathan, Leah, Samuel, Louis, Jennie and Leah’s sister Eva. Both Louis & Samuel were listed as tin peddlers and Jennie was in school. Nathan Friedman became a citizen of the United States October 17, 1894, and stated he came to the United States from Russia in 1884. They did not come through Ellis Island (like I thought) but rather the Castle Gardens Port in Manhattan |
