I started researching my mother's maternal grandfather first.He was talked about frequently at family gatherings.My oldest brother,Leroy Smith Jr.,said that "grandpa McIntyre" had shipcarpenter's skills, that grandpa went to Scotland,and that grandpa came from Canada. No one knew exactly where in canada.
The only other information available was from my Mom, Mrs. Winifred Smith,she said that grandpa's birthday was December 25.
He died when mom was sixteen years old.He had a brother name Rude,that was a barber (he lived in Boston, Mass), he also had another brother that stay in Canada,name Jarvis( my cousin Jarvis was name after this uncle) and a sister named Aunt Cisco.

I started reading about Blacks in Canada,narrowed it down to possible Provinces in Canada.I was confident that grandpa did
not come by the underground railroad. Most Blacks in the Maritimes of Canada arrived by boats as refuges from the American
Revolution.

Researching the 1861 census of New Brunswick, Oueens County;
Hampstead parish,I found my grandpa and my great great great
grandfather,Joseph McIntyre. Joseph married Maria,they had
ten sons and two daughters. One of his sons his my great great
grandfather(Samuel). Samuel's sons are: Samuel Jr., Rude, Jarvis found in the 1861 and 1871 census.

The location and other family names found in the Hampstead parish census implies strongly that the McIntyres are the descendants of Black Loyalists. The majority of Black Loyalistswere transported between April and September 1783. Their destinations in New Brunswick Included areas in Nerepis Creek at Milkish Creek and at
Quaco.

I hope to post my family tree, shortly.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
