He married ELIZABETH WARD February 14, 1795 in Sang Run, Allegany Co., Maryland, daughter of CORNELIUS WARD and BARBARA FERGUSON. She was born November 03, 1778 in Sang Run, Allegany Co., Maryland, and died April 04, 1845.

John Friend, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Ward Friend settled the "Friend's Delight" farm at Sang Run, Maryland in the year 1795. Source - Capt. Charles E. Hoye, "Glades Star", No. 8, Dec. 31, 1942

"Friend's Delight",, by Ginseng Run (Sang Run) was included in a 250 acre survey for Paul Hoye. Paul Hoye offered John (Jr. ?) a hundred acres of the tract at the mouth of Ginseng Run. Deeded to John in 1789. Source - "Indian Blood", Evelyn Guard Olsen, pg. 50.

In the 1800 census, John Friend, Jr. was listed as the head of a household of five at Sang Run, MD. Source - "Indian Blood", Evelyn Guard Olsen, pg. 87.

Augustine Friend's birth is listed in the LDS Batch/File No. 5025909 as 1770 rather than 1766 as shown here.

Augustine Friend, son of John, Sr., in 1790 resided at the Dunkard Bottom on Cheat River. He moved to Missouri. Two of his sons were Augustine and Andrew. Source - Capt. Charles E. Hoye, "Glades Star", No. 8, Dec. 31, 1942.

Augustine Friend was still in Maryland in 1796. Augustine left Maryland but returned for a visit. He married Ann Sisler who lived near Bruceton. They moved to Missouri. All their children were born in Missouri. Source - "Indian Blood", Evelyn Guard Olsen", pg. 85.

7. SARAH5 FRIEND (JOHN LEWIS4, NILS (NICHOLAS)3, JOHANNES (JOHN)2, NILS LARSSON1) was born 1774 in Friendsville, Garrett Co., Maryland. She married HENRY DEWITT. He was born 1770.

Notes for SARAH FRIEND:
Sarah Friend and her husband Henry DeWitt settled in Sang Run and went to Carroll Co., Ohio.

Susan (Friend) House and Sarah (Friend) DeWitt moved away from MD in 1816, the year the corn could not grow. Source - "Indian Blood", Evelyn Guard Olsen, pg. 109.

Sarah and her husband, Henry DeWitt, moved away leaving their daughter, Nancy DeWitt in MD. Nancy married her cousin, Thomas DeWitt. Her father, Henry DeWitt later returned to MD to live with her at the Senging Ground. Source - "Indian Blood", Evelyn Guard Olsen, pg. 109.
