This family came to America from Germany in time for the census of 1860 in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. We are pretty sure that several of his children came with him. Some of his
children, Johanna, Caroline, Gottlieb Jr. George. Dorthea and August. A small daughter came, but died of yellow fever as they landed in Galveston, Texas. Johanna was married to Tobias
Willms and Caroline married Herman Stephen Willeke after arriving
in Galveston. They did not show up in the 1870 census in Galveston County. Our researcher has found 5 more generations of the Friedrichs family that lived in Germany. We found out that Gottlieb had 13 children and not the 7 we first had knowledge of. Our researcher has been working with records in Hannover, Germany. Gottlieb had 3 sisters and 2 brothers and his father was Christian Friedrich Ludewig Friedrichs born 22 September 1775. Gottlieb was born 1803 in Bodenwerder, Hannover Germany the same as all of his brothers and sisters. Gottlieb died 1871 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas. We now have ancestors that go back to May 1638. It is possible that Gottlieb
came over earlier to check out the country
and went back after his family. The information we have found is that the family came over on the Iris in December 1859.
They landed in Galveston, Galveston Co., Texas.
