I am researching the Fritz family from Zagreb, Czech/Yugoslavia. The Fritz family, as we understand it from our research and "family lore" first arrived in America 5 January 1893 from Croatia aboard the S.S. Weimar, which embarked from Bremen on 22 December 1892 with 1033 aboard. It was recorded in the log that Johann Fritz, who occupied berth #270, bunk 3 aboard the ship, ". . .age 34, taylor[sic], can read, can write, native country was Austria, Last residence was Wien, going to Chicago, IL, location of compartment - Forward 1, port of embarkation was Bremerhaven." He was accompanied by his wife Anna Pecak and their three children: August Stefan Fritz5, Mathius Pecak (Fritz) and John E. Fritz.
The family trundled across the United States and settled in Chicago, Illinois. There, Johann went to work doing what he knew best before coming to America . . . tailoring. He started work for M. Borron Company and eventually went to work for himself. While in Chicago, they held addresses at the following recorded locations:

1894: 72 Greenwich (Now Moffat St.)

1895: 79 Churchill

1896-1898: 2709 South Park Ave (Street name Changed to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive

Eventually, with the reward of hard-work and effort, Johann secured a loan and built what was to become centerpiece address of the Fritz family for generations to come: 1923 George Street, Chicago, Illinois.

Of their children August Stefan Fritz (b:24Aug1881 d:15Aug1946) went on to meet Anna Braungart (b:06Sep1885 d:06Oct1960), also of Chicago. They lived at 2112 W. Belmont Avenue and had four children (Henry George Fritz, Verona Pauline Fritz, Florence Anna Fritz and Edwin Fritz). From there, the family moved to a new house on Francisco Avenue which they lived in until Augusts death in 1946. At that time, Anna moved to the Fritz house on George Street.

Henry George Fritz (b:16Mar1915 d:19Nov1985) served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and came back to marry his childhood sweetheart, Mildred Bertha Deutschmann (b:06Jun1915). Together, they also lived in Chicago where Henry worked for the Fred Harvey Company. They had two children (George Henry Fritz and Lianne Katherine Fritz). Later in their marriage, they moved to Brooksville, Florida and enjoyed the sun and warmth of the area escaping the ever present Chicago chill. After Henry's death in 1985, Mildred moved back to Chicago where she and Lianne share a home on Columbia Street

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
