I am researching the History of the Surname FRIEDERSDORF. The name is spelled two different ways. Example:FRIEDERSDORF or FRIEDERSDORFF Both spellings are correct.So far the Friedersdorf line points back to Zwingenberg, Germany to Samuel Friedersdorff. The first account of Samuel was in 1762. He was listed as head of the Master Tailor's Guilde in 1768. He was married to Appolonia, ( I have no maiden name for her). A known son of his was named Johann Peter Friedersdorff. He married Anna Elizabetha Hechler May 9, 1790. They had two sons that we know of, their names were Samuel Friedersdorff and Johann Peter Friedersdorff. Johann was born in Zwingenberg, Germany September 3, 1794. We think he and his wife Anna Maria Schmitt came to the United States some time around 1837. They are burried in the Hebron Cemetery just North of Madison, Indiana. Why the second 'f' was dropped from the name, I don't know. My great grandfather Edger Friedersdorff had two f's on the end of his name. I would like any info that any one might have on Friedersdorf(f) and also I would like to have more info on Samuel and as his wife. I would like to go back even farther than Samuel.
