| We decided to start this program in order to document what we know about our families while we still can. So, here we are! Shawn's family is from Michigan. Her maiden name is Ciak, and her Grandmother Ciak's maiden name is Majewski. Shawn's mother's maiden name is Laskowski, and her mother's name was Piwowar. As you may be able to tell, both sides of Shawn's family originate in Poland. As far as we know, most of both sides settled in Michigan once they came to the U.S. That's about all we know about Shawn's family. Matt's parents currently live in Illinois, but they grew up in different states themselves. Matt's mother, whose last name was Daleske, grew up in Iowa. Her father lived in Hardin County, Iowa, his entire life. His parents were born in Germany and came directly to Iowa. Matt's mother's maiden name was Starn, and she grew up in Eldora, Iowa. Other surnames in that family include: Laabs, Krause, Robinson, and Ziemke. Matt's father grew up in Nebraska City, Nebraska, where his family had lived for generations. They originated from Germany. His mother's maiden name was Burke, and her family came from Ireland to settle in Nebraska City. Other surnames in his family include: Fuhrmann, Blemeister, Heiser, Beccard, Buehler, Towhey, and Ludwig. As for us, we currently live in Indiana.
