Updated September 6, 2000

I am researching the HOELTKE (Holtke) family from Louisiana. Christian first appears in the 1859 New Orleans city directory. His Wife's name was Margaret, and he had four sons Christian, John Henry, Charles and Garret.Holtke emigrants came to America from Germany (Prussia). Christian Friedrich Holtke who left in 1848 for Amsterdam, Holland.
This is the Parish of Frille in Westphalia near Minden. Both parents were listed as deceased in 1848. Since it was a secret emigration the the destination may be speculative.
His parents were Anton Friedrich Holtke and Caroline Robke, and had a older brother Karl(I have found one brother so far). His brother emigrated in 1838 to America (parents listed as living).
I'm also researching the following surnames;
Brookman- London to South Carolina and then Louisiana
Zadick
Piton-France to Louisiana
Eckel-Germany to Louisiana
Moise- Swiss. to Penn. and then Louisiana
Fugier-Paris to Ill.and then Iowa
Story- Coweta County, Georgia
