* Christian Kuchlin of Bonne Terre, MO*

Christian Kuchlin (Kuechlin), born on April 15, 1842, came from Wolfenweiler, Germany in 1866. He first settled in Closter, NJ, and was married to Marie Siloam Ulrici on Oct 5, 1806 in New York City, NY. About 1880 they moved to Bonne Terre, MO. He had 11 children, some of whom stayed in NJ and NY. The younger ones traveled with him to Bonne Terre. My grandfather, Albert Kuchlin, was born Sep 26, 1880 and lived all his life in Bonne Terre and raised 6 daughters and one son who died at birth. The other children were: Christian, b. 1865 in Wolfenweiler, Fred Otto, b. 1869 in NJ, George, b. in NJ, Walter, b. 1867 in NJ, Jennie, b. 1870 in NJ, Wilhelmina b. July 2 1871 in NJ, John, b. 1872 in NJ, Louise, b. 1878 in NJ, Harry, b. 1886 in Bonne Terre, MO, and Anna.

Christian worked for the St. Joe Lead Company. He had helped build the first roads in Bonne Terre and also helped lay out the Cemetery in Bonne Terre. He was a director of the cemetery until his death.
