INTRODUCTION
Welcome to William (Bill) and Dorothy's Genealogical Search Home Page! We joined this engaging hobby of compiling family history several years ago and are delighted to share family lineage information. To share or inquire, drop us a note at wfuller44@gmail.com or drdpf@yahoo.com. For those interested in seeing our recent immediate family history, a brief synopsis follows.

SURNAMES
Bill's paternal line includes the surnames FULLER and, though his paternal grandmother, HOLMAN. His father, Ellis Dean Fuller, moved with his family from Monett, Missouri, to Paris, Texas, around 1902. Bill's maternal line includes the surnames SMITH, PRICE and BIARD, all of whom were located in Lamar County, Texas, by the end of the 19th century.

Dorothy's paternal line includes the surname POLLARD and, through her paternal grandmother, BIRCH and LITTLETON. The names O'HARE and WALKER figure in her maternal line. Most known modern relatives are in the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma.

BILL'S AND DOROTHY'S LIVES
Bill graduated from Paris (Texas) High School in 1962, attended Paris Junior College, and graduated from North Texas State University (B.A. '66 and M.A. '70); Dorothy, from Pampa (Texas) High School in 1965, Southern Colorado State College (B.S. '71), University of Utah (M.Ed. '77) and Boston University (Ed.D. '94)

We married at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas in 1967 and moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico, where Bill taught English and French at Robertson High School and Dorothy worked in the Dean of Student's Office at New Mexico Highlands University.

In 1968, we moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where Bill had accepted a position as an employee development specialist at Pueblo Army Depot, and where our two daughters, Sherrie Anne and Wendy Lea Fuller, were born.

We moved to Germany in 1971, where Bill held a position as education services officer first in Worms am Rhein and later in Illesheim. In 1976, our family moved from Germany to Dugway, Utah, and in 1978 from Utah to northern Virginia. In Virginia, Bill was director of the Army Continuing Education System for the Army Materiel Command, and Dorothy was a curriculum development specialist for the Combat Engineer School at Fort Belvoir.

In 1980, we moved to the area of Anchorage, Alaska, staying there until after Bill's retirement from Federal Civil Service on 6 Dec 96. During our time in Alaska, Bill was first an education services officer and later a transition services ("outplacement") manager for the Army, and Dorothy was first a training officer for the Army and later the director of learning resources for the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).

In June 1997, we moved from Alaska to South Dakota, where Dorothy is a professor in the College of Education, Black Hills State University. Bill occupies his retirement time as the Web site editor for the Mountain Plains 2 Homeowners Association and as an occasional freelance writer of model railroad articles (yes, he still plays with toy trains).

BILL AND DOROTHY'S CHILDREN
Our older daughter, Sherrie, is married to Dan Benge and is a registered nurse in Billings, Montana; our younger daughter, Wendy, with a Master's degree in animal science, is married to Brooke Torstenson and has been a project manager for Montana State University in Bozeman, directing an elk management study with a grant from the US Department of Agriculture's National Research Initiative. Wendy and Brooke now live in Hayward, Wisconsin, developing land inherited from Brooke's late father.

  • The Lady Needs a Name (45 KB)
This image was in the collection of Nancy Claudia Price Smith (1875-1951) but her identity has been lost in time. Is she a northeast Texas Price? Smith? Biard?
