Notes
Private in Captain Alexander McClellan's Company, Massachusetts. Served 2 months and 18 days in 1779 in expedition against Penobscot. Name in both Vermont and New York in 1790. He is buried at Keeney Cemetery in Fabius, NY on West Keeney Road.

Notes
He emigrated to Charlestown, NH before the Revolutionary War and was the first blacksmith in that town. He went to Canada during some of the Indian wars with an expedition to bring back some captives. He lived in Littleton, NH and in Barnet, VT until 1796; afterwards at Bath, NH.

Notes
In 1776, John enlisted as a private in the New Jersey militia, monthly tours until 1781. He served under Captains Piatt, Peter Perrine, Chambers, Longstreet, Colonels Duychink, Scoudder, and Hyer. He was in the battles of Brunswick and Monmouth. He lived in New Jersey until 1802 when he moved to Mercer Co., PA. He applied for a pension on Oct. 1, 1833 (S-2877). John is said to have been of Scotch-Irish extraction.
