In the 1850 Census of Meriwether County, Georgia, in the household of John C. Lanier and wife Eveline: .....Eliza C. Gordy, 10, Ga.; Frances Gordy, 12, Ga.; Martha Gordy, 16; Mary Lanier, 4; Sarah Lanier, 2,; Henry Williams, 20, farm laborer; William McQuirk, and Mary McQuirk.

From Glenda B. Smith:
The young half sister of Eliza C. Gordy (Sarah Lanier, 2, in the 1850 census) married Christopher C. Best in 1869, and by the 1880 Census is found in Russell County Alabama, (North Half of Beat 1.) Burns Niblett and Eliza C. Gorday Niblett are also found in Russell County, Alabama (North Half of Beat 1.) Additionally, by 1860, Henry L. Williams and Rachel Niblett had found their way to Russell County, Alabama. (The Henry Williams in the household of John Lanier gave me a start; however I found the correct Henry in the household of Benjamin Williams.)
