Introduction
(copied as written)
Caswell County, North Carolina, was formed from the Northern part of Orange County effective May 9, 1777. Many early deeds of Caswell County refer to earlier purchases when it was a part of Orange Co.. In 1791 a county division resulted in formation of Person County from its eastern section.

Deed Books A through R total 6614 pages and cover 40 years of land transfers, deeds of slaves and personal property, powers of attorney, divisions of land to inheritors, and migrations of inhabitants. The Deed Books are at the Office of Register of Deed of Caswell County, Yanceyville, North Carolina 27379.

Included are over 1200 grants from the State of North Carolina. The original grants are at the Office of Secretary of State of North Carlolina, Raleigh, NC 27611. For a few early grants, herein the names of chain carriers are included. These appear only on the original grant. Such as grant was not free. Each purchaser generally paid 50 shillings per hundred acres. As the land grant office closed in 1763 with the death of Lord Granville, many taxpayers of Caswell County had no recorded deed until
independence and the opening of a state office soon thereafter.

Nehemiah is believed to have had a son named William Fuller. William Fuller was on the 1777 Tax List of Caswell County living in St. Lawrence District along with the following head of household Fullers at the time. Numbers following name are assessed valuations in pounds, shillings, and pence.
