Story from Tammy Fuller Gest:
" Jesse Franklin Fuller was bom in Hillsborough County, North Carolina and married Mary Elizabeth Jackson on November 25, 1807 in Greene County, Georgia. Jesse and his family moved to Perry County, Alabama, in the early 1820's. Jesse's twin brother, John Alfted, owned a large plantation in Perry County, and Jesse was the overseer. One day Jesse was supervising the clearing of land, with the slaves doing the work. A slave came over to him and asked him to move for fear the tree they were working on would fall on him. Jesse told the slave to keep on with his work, that he would move when the time came. The slave went back to work, gave the tree another whack, and it fell on Jesse, killing him. It was said that the slave should have been lynched, as a lot of slaves in the area had killed their masters, but the whole thing had been witnessed by Jesse's children who were coming home from school at just that time. They knew that the slave was not at fault."

In a letter dtd. Jan. 22, 1981 from Edna Liggin who was the librarian in
Bernice, LA I quote:
"There is a record of a William Fuller who died in Union Parish 2-7-1844, a
bachelor, without children, who left considerable property. His heirs were
his parents, Jesse and Mary Fuller, and brothers Seborn J., Elijah, David,
James, George, and Jefferson, while a sister Lucene Fuller was the wife of
Isaac Mayes. Some of these, records state, were still back in Alabama.
Included in the list of his property when his will was probated were a set
of the works of Jefferson, a Bible and the life of Napoleon. He just had
one frying pan and one bed. He had 240 acres of land in the new Parish of Union,
in North Louisiana.
The brother Seborn was born may 20, 1816 in Green County, Ga., came to
Alabama, then to Louisiana. It seems the Fullers were on the move. Seborn
came to Shiloh to become of significence in that place's history. He found
the little settlement without a pastor for the newly established church and
so he preached. No doubt he was of a scholarly nature. He might have
inherited the books of his brother, William. However, the church called
Jesse Tubb to be the first pastor. Maybe, Seborn Fuller did not want the
responsibility. Another record I put into my history of Shiloh church long
ago is that Elder Richard Fuller was the first pastor, followed by Jesse
Tubb. Levi Fuller and his wife were included in the charter members of the
church."
