** Note Soloman Sizemore, William Sizemore & Rebeca Sizemore listed on the Poor Schools List in 1852. William is Martin Sizemore. This may be proof that Soloman Sizemore is the son of George Washington Sizemore, Sr and Rhonda ?-Sizemore. There is no other proof that Soloman D. Sizemore (b. July 1828 in GA) is their son. However, the 1840 Census in Talbot Co., GA does have George Washington Sizemore and Rhonda as having (5) males under the age of 15 yrs. ***

Seeking information on Moses GOSS who is listed as an heir of George SIZEMORE, deceased, of Barnwell Dist, SC, in a deed dated 06 OCT 1806. Moses, along with Gabriel SIZEMORE, George SIZEMORE [Jr.], and John SIZEMORE, sold land in Edgefield Dist, SC, which George and his wife Mary had obtained in the early 1790's from James MARTIN. (Another heir may have been Owen SIZEMORE, who appears to have retained the land he inherited.) It is speculated that Moses married a daughter of George and Mary; he appears as head of household in Barnwell in 1820, on the same page as the households of Stephen GOSS and Mason GOSS. In 1827, Moses is mentioned as a neighbor bounding property sold by Mary SIZEMORE to George SIZEMORE, Jr., which deed is witnessed by David GOSS. On the 1840 census of Marion Co, GA, households are headed by Moses GOSS (age 60's) and Thomas GOSS (age 20's). Note that Jane (SIZEMORE) COOK (b. ca. 1806), Wiley SIZEMORE (b. 1820), and Andrew Jackson SIZEMORE (b. 1823)--all from the Barnwell Dist, SC, area--moved in or through Marion Co, GA. In 1843, Moses witnesses a deed in which Edward E. SIZEMORE (a grandson of George and Mary above) of Russell Co, AL, sells land in Barnwell Dist, SC, to Gabriel SIZEMORE [evidently of Muscogee Co, GA]. On 06 APR 1853, Cassa Ann Frances GOSS married in Muscogee Co, GA, to Henry W./H. SIZEMORE; Henry's kinship to the other SIZEMORES and Cassa Ann's connection to the GOSS family are not known to me. Any information on these GOSS or SIZEMORE folk, their background or descendants would be appreciated. I have extensive material on the SIZEMORES and related families I would be glad to shrare. Thanks -- John Mallory Land <retrofit@flash.net>
