| I am looking for the ancestors and siblings of John Wesely Evans, 1812-1886. This has been a particularly difficult search! John was perhaps born in Hertford City or Hertford County, NC. In 1848 he married Cordelia Bell in Lowndes County, MS. For a man in that day and age to wait until 36 years of age to marry was very uncommon, so I suspect he had a previous wife. Between 1860 and 1870, John and his family moved to Texas in the Ellis County vicinity. Family legend has it that John's mother was a full blooded native American Indian. This should be a clue. John's children were named John, C. B. (Cordelia Bell?), William D., Fanny, Abner Norman, Rufus Bell, Franklin Josiah, and Mary.
