The Edward Isaac Furners of Chicago, IL

Updated February 18, 2006

I am researching the family of Edward Isaac Furner and Catherine Galvin (born 8/25/1824 in Cork City, Cork County, Ireland - died December 4, 1916 in Chicago,Cook County, Il). Have no information on Edward's dates of birth (born in Dover, England - according to death certificate of his son, John Walter Furner) nor death. Most records prior to 1871 in Chicago were destroyed in Great Chicago Fire - October 1871.

I believe they had at least three children: 1)John Walter Furner (born June 8, 1852 in Chicago - died March 13, 1921)- who was my great grandfather. 2)Elizabeth Furner (born in 1854 - died in July of 1936 - married name was Rorke)and 3) Thaddeus Joseph Furner (born about 1865 died in chicago on November 13, 1902.

John Walter Furner married Mary Agnes Nacy September 24, 1873. Mary Nacy Furner was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on September 13, 1857 and died in Chicago, Cook County, IL on April 1, 1936. Her parents were from Ireland.

John Walter and Mary Nacy Furner had 8 children(all born in Chicago): Edward (1/1875?), Harry James (9/1875), Rose (9/1877), Thomas (12/1879), Catherine (aka "Kitty" 10/1881), John Walter Jr. (12/1882), May Agnes (3/1886) and Helen Frances (7/1894)
