1. JOHN1 FURLONG I was born 1745. He married JEAN EMERSON February 17, 1766 in Goochland, VA.

Notes for JOHN FURLONG I:
John Furlong and Jean Emerson was married at St. James Northam Parish. The
Rev. William Douglas performed the marriage. This church died with the
revolution. It was the Church of England (colonial).

John Furlong served in the Revolutionary War. The Matross 1st Artilery. He
is listed in the Goochland tithe list of 1776. He owed a tax of 5 pounds of
tobacco or 15 schillings. He owned 100 acres of land.

In the late 1780's several of John's sons left Virginia and moved to Smith
County, Tennessee.



       Children of JOHN FURLONG and JEAN EMERSON are:

Notes for JAMES FURLONG:
James was the first of John Furlongs sons to leave Virginia.

In 1790 he was listed as a major land owner and had one slave.



viii.   ROBERT FURLONG, b. 1778, Virginia; d. July 1814, Tennessee; m. MARY LEE.

 
Notes for ROBERT FURLONG:
His will was made July 3, 1814 and names brothers and sisters, Hubbard, John,
James, Samuel, Meredith, Hugson, Anthony Wheeler; heirs of sister Elizabeth
Emmerson to wit; Amy, Henry, Eliza, Mahala and Jesse Emmerson; brothers Martin
and Samuel Furlong executors (page 128, Will book 1812-1814)

Sold land to John Woodson in 1793, this is where the towns of Cartersville and
Carter Ferry were located.





2. ix.   MARTIN FURLONG, b. December 15, 1782, Virginia; d. September 29, 1864, Saline County, IL.
