Marriage Notes for DENNIS CONYERS and MARGARET:
MSSI M3587 a119 - Platt that reads: "Settle bought of Siclin(sp), W. Dulirn(sp) bought of McLanahan. McLanahan married the daughter and grandaughter to D. Conyers. Richard Thornbury was the former proprietor of ____ and now D. Conyers." Platt is not dated.
Dennis and Margaret may have had a daughter who married a man named McLanahan and there may have been a dispute over some land. I think the above mentioned document (Platt) is that land.
If Margaret was married to Richard Thornbury, then Dennis may have been married to someone else named Margaret. So far the oldest document I have where Margaret is mentioned by name, as his wife, is 1739. Since Samuel was born about 1719 and John in 1725 this may mean Dennis had three wives, Margaret being the 2nd and Sarah being the 3rd.
There is another notation in parish (SPR, pg. 33) records that show "...baptized John, Son of Dennis and Margaret Conyers 6 June 1725." Did Dennis have two wives named Margaret?
1755 record in Prince William Co. that Dennis married Margaret Thornhill, widow of Richard Thornbury.
