Family of Dennis Conyers, Stafford Co., VA

Updated September 5, 2000

It's been awhile since I have posted an updated site, but here it is. I am still making some additions and corrections.

There have been several contributors to this chart: Robert Whaley Conyers was an enormous help in getting us started as he did some of the earlier research; Ethel Burns contributed a large portion of Enoch Conyers (b-1799) line; Cindy Tackett contributed Benjamin Conyers (b-1759) line. There have been other contributors but unfortunately their names are not readily available to me and I apologize for that. The names are added in the note section and will be added to this as soon as I find them all.

Anyway, as you can see this is a family affair. We would like to fill in as many lines as possible and make this tree as complete as possible. Every new clue or bit of information is like adding another piece to an unfinished puzzle. It's always exciting when you find something new. We've been to some places along the way and met some terrific people during our project.

The Conyers chose interesting names for some of their children...George Washington, Kit Carson, Daniel Boone. The Conyers family has served in most, if not all, of the wars in the United States...War of 1812, Black Hawk War, Mexican War, and the Civil War. Did you know Conyers cousins fought on both sides of the War between the North and South? We have such an exciting history.

Two of our ancestors traveled the Oregon Ox Trail in 1852. Our earliest date so far is about 1690 Virginia and we are trying to go back, but Dennis is certainly a difficult man to find. From 1690 we've migrated all over the country - Kentucky, North Dakota, Oregon, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Iowa - just about everywhere. I hope some of you Conyers descendants out there can help add to our chart. We're looking for anything and everything we can get our hands on. Any personal information you can share on our ancestors would be wonderful too.

We've added as many of my notes as possible which we hope will help you along in your research. We are also adding our thoughts on some of our ancestors in the hopes that the "right person" see it and are able to fill in some missing information. You never know what will happen and that's what makes this project so exciting. There are some areas we are not entirely certain about, but we added them to the chart anyway. We tried to note these areas at the beginning of a line, but it's possible I may have missed something. Please let me know if you find any discrepancies.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Terri Furgiuele

P.S. My other half is John Conyers, descendant of John Conyers (1725-1770) and Alice from Stafford Co., VA.
