William Furber, born in London, England about 1614, departed Bristol June 4, 1635 on the ship "Angel Gabriel" with John Cogswell in accompany with the ship "The James". The "Angel Gabriel" arrived on the coast of today's New England in the area of Pemaquid, Maine on August 14th and was wrecked in the "great storm of "35" while at anchor with half it's cargo on August 15th.
William was establish in Dover Neck by 1639 and Bloody Point in 1657. This area is known as Newington, in the Portsmouth - Dover areas of New Hampshire. He married Elizabeth Clark in 1642, in Dover. Their children: Hanna, Elizabeth, William, Bridget, Jethro, Moses, Bertha, Ester, and Susanna (b. 5/5/1664). William died in Newington, New Hampshire in 1694.

Also, Temperance Furber, William's sister, born about 1607 in London, England, married John Bickford, Dover, NH in 1624 and died in Dover in 1635.

To our families collective knowledge, these were the first members of the family in the New World. We are seeking the ties of all the Furbers in America, to the Furbers in England and beyond. Any information you have to share may be directed to me at the address at the end of this first page.
