I am researching the Jacques Gachassin family from Bagneres de Bigores,Hautes Pyrenees, France. Jacques Gachassin my great grandfather, immigrated from the Port of Bordeaux on the S.S. Corinthian departing France in November 1872 from France arriving in New Orleans December 28, 1872. He traveled to an area of South Louisiana called St. Martinville in what is now St. Martin Parish, which was originally called the Attakapas District. He met and married Bazilie Viator in 1881 and they had six children: Marie Udalie, Louis, Marie Anaise, Dominique, Andrew, and Whitney. Jacques Gachassin's parents were Louis Gachassin and Marie Frechou Gachassin also from Bagneres de Bigores Hautes Pyrenees, France. Any information relating to Jacques would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. |
