Elmer Gaeddert
Memorial Service

Elmer Gaeddert was born on April 1, 1928 to Anna Meyer and John Gaeddert in Bessie Oklahoma. He was an only child. He passed away on March 25, 1999 at 2 AM.

For the past several years he has made his home in Stratford, Oklahoma.

He was employed in several capacities in the engineering field. He was Building Services Manager for Oklahoma Publishing Co., Director of Engineering for the University of Oklahoma Hospital and was the liaison and inspector for the Architect during the construction of the Myriad convention Center. Additionally he worked as a Contract Piping designer for many national companies including Eli Lilly, Conoco, Kerr McGee and Citgo.

He was a truly unique individual who always saw life from a totally different perspective. Growing up on a farm in western Oklahoma, near Clinton, he learned at an early age to fix any problem dealing with mechanical devices. He was an inventor from an early age and many of his ideas were incorporated into his different working projects. He loved his work and he was involved in the design or construction of many of the building in Oklahoma city. Any project he undertook was given his full attention. He was a square dance caller for various clubs. He graduated from Clinton High School, attended Oklahoma State University, and Cornell University.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Oklahoma City

He was a devoted husband and father and a loyal friend and his life touched all who know him. especially all of the younger people he knew and guided. He was one of the kindest men and he always had such a calming effect of any group he was with.

He is survived by his wife Pat of the home, a son and daughter-in law Anthony and Margaret Gaeddert, Oklahoma city, a daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Dale Crouch, Newcastle, three step-sons, Michael Sweeden, Mustang, Chuck Sweeden, Wichita, Kansas, and Britt Sweeden, Oklahoma city. He is also survived by grandsons Brian and Christopher Gaeddert and Ryan Sweeden and Seth Sweeden and by Granddaughters Brandy Sweeden, and Erika King, and by two great grandchildren, Devin and Kylie King.

Services conducted at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Stratford, Oklahoma by Reverend Don Alexander, First Christian Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday March 27th 1999 at 2 PM. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, Oklahoma.
