John Joseph Gardas (Gardasz) immigrated to the US around 1902-04from Galecia, Poland. He was born on November 15, 1884. Was a miner in/near Mullan, Idaho.from approximately 1904 to 1910. Left to go to Northeast Minneapolis, MN where he met my grandmother Stella (Stefania) Gacek (b.12/24/1891 Krakov, Poland) they married in Holy Cross Church on June 19, 1911. Returned to Mullan, Idaho, where John was a miner. Perhaps he worked as a miner in the Sunshine Mine at Wallace, Idaho. Four children were born there, their first born, Walter (1912) died at age 6, on August 18, 1918. He died 9 days after my mother Helen Clara was born, (August 9, 1918) The second born was Wanda (Twardy)b. August 13, 1913. The third born child, a son Lawrence lived for only two days, in 1916. Sons Lawrence and Walter are buried in unmarked graves in the Mountain View Cemetary in Mullan. My grandparents, mother, and her sister moved back to Minnesota, my grandparents had 6 more children and my grandfather farmed in New Brighton, Minnesota. He died Jan,29,1947.
